What Is Romance Scam? A romance scam is a deceptive scheme where the perpetrator pretends to have romantic feelings or intentions towards the victim. They build a relationship with the victim, often online, by gaining their trust and affection. Once trust is established, the scammer exploits this emotional connection to manipulate the victim into sending money or valuables, usually under false pretenses.

This type of scam can involve various tactics, such as fabricating stories of financial need, medical emergencies, or other crises to elicit sympathy and financial assistance from the victim. Ultimately, the scammer aims to defraud the victim deceitfully, often causing emotional and economic harm.
