MARTIN KPEBU STATED THAT HE CANNOT ENDORSE THE MINORITY AND BAGBIN'S REQUEST FOR AKUFFO ADDO TO SIGN THE ANTI-LGBTQI BILL WHILE IT IS BEING REVIEWED IN COURT

Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu expressed his disapproval of the pressure exerted on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo by the Minority and Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin to sign the anti-gay bill while the matter was under court review. Kpebu highlighted that under Ghanaian law, actions that undermine ongoing court cases are prohibited. On Thursday, March 21, Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, denied receiving any interlocutory injunction regarding the case initiated by Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Rockson-Nelson Etse K. Dafeamekpor.
Mr. Dame clarified that he had not been served with any legal documents related to such court proceedings. Parliament suspended the vetting process for the nomination of Ministers and Deputy Ministers of State by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Wednesday, March 20, following an interlocutory injunction filed at the Supreme Court by MP Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor.
