In his speech to the populace on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, in Accra, to outline his objectives and vision for Ghana ahead of the country's next elections, Dr. Bawumia emphasized his accomplishments as Veep and what Ghanaians may expect from him in the event that he is elected president.
Despite inheriting a difficult financial environment, Dr. Bawumia claimed in his speech that he and his team embarked on a clear and deliberate plan to stabilize the economy, improve social services, and advance industrialization. Smart policies like free education, enhanced social safety, and farm support allowed for significant improvements in key economic indicators. The foundation for sustained, long-term growth and development was established by these activities.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) leader continued by stating that he is dedicated to addressing the concerns of marginalized communities such as the Zongo Communities. declaring that his vision for the future is based on his desire to create a better tomorrow for all Ghanaians and a strong sense of duty.
Dr. Bawumia positioned himself as a candidate with a proven track record of effective leadership and a clear future vision, which included a promise to keep the total number of ministers and deputy ministers under 50 during his administration, in preparation for the 2024 presidential contest.
He believes that having fewer ministers will help to make decision-making more effective. He stated, "I would have no more than fifty ministers and deputy ministers."
He set high standards for himself, saying that youth employment should be created along with better healthcare and sustainable economic growth.
Dr. Bawumia's vision for Ghana includes utilizing natural resources for the common good, guaranteeing accountability and openness in governance, and putting the country in position for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
