7 die, others injured as tanker runs over trotro at Amasaman in Accra
Seven out of the ten people on board the tanker died tragically as a result of the collision with a commercial vehicle (trotro) on Monday.
Alex Ahenkorah was one of the eyewitnesses who described the terrifying series of events to Adomonline.com. According to Ahenkorah, the tanker driver apparently suffered a braking malfunction, which resulted in a disastrous collision with the commercial vehicle.
"The commercial driver slowed down upon getting to a section of the road which is under construction due to a hole there. Unfortunately, the tanker driver which was behind crashed into it and destroyed it totally," stated Ahenkorah.
After the crash, onlookers raced to the scene to help and were able to free the victims from the debris. But several of the injured passengers were unresponsive despite their best efforts.
There has been a community-wide outpouring of grief and mourning for the lives killed in the disaster as a result of the unfortunate tragedy. In order to look into the facts behind the crash and assist the impacted families, authorities have been called to the scene.
