Assemblyman aspirant who died crossing river to campaign wins election posthumously

 The Teberebie electoral area election in Tarkwa has declared Manasseh Addison Sackey, the 34-year-old headteacher of Aboponiso MA School, also referred to as Teacher Obour, the winner posthumously. Tragically, Sackey lost his life while crossing a river to campaign for reelection.

Teacher Obour had represented the Teberebie electoral constituency as the incumbent assemblyman before to his tragic death on Monday, December 4. The sad event happened while the committed teacher was out on a campaign. Without safety jackets, the canoe carrying the beloved headteacher and others drowned as the boat capsized while crossing a river that connected Aklika.

 

Teacher Obour, who passed away on Tuesday, managed to score an incredible victory in the District Assembly Elections, receiving 860 votes despite the somber circumstances surrounding his campaign. Benard Obeng, his nearest opponent, lagged far behind with 857 votes, demonstrating the fierceness of the district's election contest.

Voters honored Teacher Obour's memory by electing him again, recognizing his dedication to community development and education.

 

Residents' reactions to Teacher Obour's posthumous triumph have been divided; some are grieving over the unfortunate event, while others are using their votes to honor Teacher Obour's legacy.
