Project work subjects are to be covered on the first day of the West African Senior Schools Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) this year, which is today, Monday, August 1.
The tests will end on Tuesday, September 27, according to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) schedule.A total of 422,883 applicants from 977 schools will sit for the exams.
There will be 14 people who are deaf and 72 who are blind.Candidates will submit 60 subjects total, including 56 electives and four cores.
On Monday, August 29, the English Language Orals will take place, and on Thursday, September 8, the English Language Essay and Objective Papers will be written.
Many parents will be relieved that the exams were held after the Minority in Parliament warned that they might not be due to a lack of funding.
Peter Noritsu-Kotoe, the minority education spokesperson, said last week on the floor of the House of Representatives,
"Mr. Speaker, the situation has become critical as no funding has been given to WAEC for the administration of the WASSCE and BECE in 2022."
For various pre-examination activities, transportation, and compensation for examiners, supervisors, invigilators, and depot-keepers, WAEC urgently requires a total of GH 96,694,432.40.
However, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, a Deputy Minister of Education, rejected the accusations mentioned above.
'Ignore the propaganda,' The Ministry will conduct all of the exams it has planned with WAEC. Therefore, don't believe rumors that we'll postpone or cancel any scheduled exams. He said that every commitment to WAEC has been fulfilled, so any attempt to damage the partnership must be exposed.
All the best to our candidates
