The Nkawie Circuit court has given over a 20-year detainment sentence to two people who assaulted and ransacked brokers at gunpoint.
The convicts – Musthapha Ahmed, 23, and Alhassan Sammy, 29 – were said to have assaulted the brokers with privately produced guns on the Nkrumah-Nkwanta-Amaadaa street in the Atwima Mponua District and removed their cash, cell phones and other important things, and escaped into the bramble.
They conceded to the charges and were sentenced on their own supplication by the court directed by Michael Johnson Abbey, the GNA reports.
The examiner, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sylvanus Dalmeida told the court that the episode occurred on September 3, 2020, at about 8:30 pm.
He said the convicts who had trapped in the part of the street close to Amaadaa, jumped on the brokers quickly they landed from a vehicle and requested their cash and other significant things.
The indictment said they prevailed with regards to removing their cash, cell phones, and other important things and escaped into the shrubbery.
A report was made to the Nyinahin Police, who upon insight captured the convicts the following day from their hideaway.
They were charged and brought under the steady gaze of the court.
